From Inside Out Prison Exchange Instructor, Lora Bex Lempert, Ph.D.
Calling all Community Colleges and Universities:
We're planning the next Inside Out Prison Exchange training in Michigan -- May 21 -27 -- this time, to simplify all our lives, we've reserved a retreat area in Clarkston. IO is a program that brings university students together with incarcerated people in the same class inside a correctional facility. It is an evolving set of courses that create opportunities for dialogue between those on the outside and those on the inside of the nation’s correctional facilities. Inside Out seeks to deepen the conversation and transform ways of thinking about crime and justice. Training will take place at the retreat and at Ryan Correctional in Detroit.
This link will take you to our (UM Dearborn) Inside Out site that includes a short video to give you a sense of what IO looks like. http://www.casl.umd.umich.edu/index.php?id=693322
The National Inside Out Program will be posting all the training information soon (I hope). www.insideoutcenter.org
Deadline date will be March 26, unless a training isn't completely filled, but once it is, it's over.
We hope that people at your local community colleges/universities will take advantage of this opportunity to do the training.
